Dear members,

With local elections fast approaching I want to encourage all of you to contribute as best you can to getting across our core Green messages – on the environment, on fairness and on the economy – and in getting out the Green vote. I have been hugely impressed by the work going on in the target seats I have visited in the past few weeks and even just one elected Green councillor can be incredibly effective.

The Bradford West by election result is further evidence of growing disillusionment with the big 3 political parties, whose policies are virtually indistinguishable and who still do not understand that building a resilient economy, creating jobs and avoiding an environmental crisis are compatible – and urgently needed. So our challenge is to continue to offer a genuine alternative to the discredited and distrusted Tories, Lib Dems and Labour parties. I want to wish each and every candidate in the local, London Assembly and London Mayoral elections, as well as the hundreds of activists working with them, the very best of luck and, above all, to thank you for your commitment to a greener fairer future.
